Jackson keeps playoff hopes alive

MILL CREEK – The Jackson Timberwolves girls basketball team snapped out of its losing streak at the right time.

Jackson (6-8 in league, 7-9 overall) ended its four-game skid with a 60-52 Western Conference South victory over Mountlake Terrace (6-9, 6-11) to claim a half-game lead over the Hawks for the fifth and final district playoff position.

“We came out pumped to play tonight,” Jackson’s first-year coach Jeannie Howell said. “We have to keep our energy up. We can’t have any mental or physical lapses.”

Emilee Eisinger and Sam McCracken combined to score 47 of the Timberwolves points. Eisinger scored 14 of Jackson’s 26 first-half points and McCracken had 10 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter. Eisinger and McCracken scored 13 of Jackson last 15 points.

“Once they get a hold of the basketball inside it’s pretty hard to stop them,” Howell said.

Howell said Jackson did not turn the ball over as it had in previous games.
