Jackson wide receiver Daniel Arias announced earlier this week on Twitter and later confirmed to The Herald that he has committed to play football at the University of Colorado.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, Arias is a three-star recruit who Scout.com ranks as the No. 2 receiver in the state’s 2018 graduating class. The rising senior received offers from 13 other Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) programs, including Utah, Oregon State, Michigan State, Boise State and San Diego State.
Arias had a breakout junior season last fall, hauling in 49 receptions for 1,030 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 21 yards per catch. He garnered first-team All-Wesco 4A honors at wide receiver and second-team honors at defensive back.
Arias showcased his speed this spring by qualifying for three events at the Class 4A state track and field championships. He placed second in the 400 meters and also reached state in both the 100 and 200 meters.
Colorado went 10-4 last season under coach Mike MacIntyre for the program’s first winning campaign since 2005. The Buffaloes reached the Pac-12 championship game by winning the South division title and capped their resurgent season with a trip to the Alamo Bowl.
