Jackson’s Pleasant swims two state times

MILL CREEK – Jackson swimmer Amber Pleasant was feeling under the weather before the Timberwolves’ Western Conference South Division meet with Shorewood on Wednesday. But when Pleasant hit the water, she left any illness – and all competition – in her wake.

Pleasant, a sophomore, had state-meet qualifying times in winning the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races and also swam on Jackson’s victorious 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams as the Timberwolves beat Shorewood 96-73.

Shorewood dropped to 2-1 in league and 3-1 overall, while Pleasant helped Jackson (3-0, 6-0) remain perfect. “Pleasant did a superb job,” assistant coach Andy Hay said. “She came through clutch, very clutch. I really don’t know if it gets any better than that.”

Pleasant had her third state qualifying time of the season in the 50 freestyle (25.38 seconds) and her first in the 100 freestyle (56.03).

Emily Rogers won the 200 individual medley and swam on Jackson’s two winning relay teams.

Shorewood senior Jackie Bensen won the 100 breaststroke in a state-meet qualifying time of 1:10.34.
