It was nearly three years between Silvertips being named WHL Player of the Week. Now Everett has two in three weeks as Joshua Winquist received those honors today. Winquist had a goal and six assists in Everett’s two games over the weekend, both wild one-goal victories. Winquist’s goal was a biggie, too, as it was an overtime game winner.
Winquist’s award came two weeks after Tips defenseman Matt Pufahl was named Player of the Week. Prior to Pufahl, Everett’s last Player of the Week was Kellan Tochkin in November of 2010. It’s definitely been a different kind of season for the Tips thus far.
