RENTON — The Seattle Seahawks are hopeful that injured Pro Bowlers Matt Hasselbeck, Lofa Tatupu and Patrick Kerney will be able to play against Philadelphia this weekend, but as of Monday afternoon the jury was still out.
Coach Mike Holmgren said that Hasselbeck is in the same situation he has been in past weeks, meaning his status will be evaluated each day. Hasselbeck was in Los Angeles on Monday for a scheduled appointment with a specialist, but there was no word Monday afternoon as to whether the condition of his ailing back had changed.
Tatupu strained a groin in Sunday’s win over San Francisco, and Holmgren said he will miss some practice time this week.
“I believe he’ll be able to play in the game Sunday,” Holmgren said, referring to this weekend’s home date with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Kerney suffered an undisclosed injury to the left shoulder that underwent surgery in the offseason. Holmgren said that Kerney was feeling better Monday than he was immediately after Sunday’s game, so there is a chance he will be able to play against the Eagles.
Holmgren did say that wide receiver Deion Branch was likely to miss another game while he continues to nurse a foot injury. The injury was originally called a bruised heel, but Holmgren said Monday that team doctors are still trying to evaluate the nature of Branch’s foot problem.
