Juulsen, Hart again named to Team WHL for Canada-Russia Series

The Team Canada roster for the annual CHL Canada-Russia Series was announced Thursday, and both Everett goaltender Carter Hart and defenseman Noah Juulsen made the team for the second consecutive year.

The six-game series features regional league teams of Canadian National Junior Team (WHL, OHL, QMJHL) candidates competing against the Russian National Junior Team. Team WHL will face Team Russia in Prince George, B.C., on Nov. 7 and in Edmonton on Nov. 8. The series is one of the showcase events Hockey Canada uses to determine who will compete in the Worlds Junior Championship that begins on Boxing Day.

– Meanwhile, the Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup, Silvertips prospect Dylan Holloway earned Play of the Day for his game-winning goal Wednesday in Team Alberta’s win over Team Saskatchewan.

On Thursday Ethan Browne scored a goal in Team Alberta’s 5-1 win over Team Manitoba in the second day of action in Calgary. Holloway also skated for Alberta (2-0-0), while Reece Vitelli and Mark Liwiski competed for Manitoba (0-2-0). Tips goalie prospect Dalton Belluk recorded 30 saves on 35 shots as he took the loss for Manitoba.

Defenseman Alex Moar’s Team Saskatchewan fell 5-3 to Team British Columbia in the first game of the day. Team B.C. improved to 2-0-0 while Team Saskatchewan fell to 0-2-0.

All four teams conclude round-robin play Friday.
