BURLINGTON — The Kamiak High School boys golf team dominated the competition at the Class 4A state tournament Wednesday, winning both the individual and team titles at Avalon Golf Club.
The Knights’ Reid Martin captured medalist honors, shooting an even-par 72 Wednesday for the two-round total of 2-under 142. He finished five shots ahead of the runner-up, Broc Johnson of Todd Beamer High School.
Dylan Goodwin of Kamiak also shot a 72 Wednesday, matching Martin for the best round of the day. Goodwin finished in a three-way tie for third at 148. Also at 148 was Ricky McDonald of Edmonds-Woodway.
The Knights had four players finish among the top 20 — Martin, Goodwin, Mark Strickland (tied for 11th at 151) and Johnny Carey (tied for 20th at 154 ) — to run away with the team title. Kamiak finished with 134.5 points, Runner-up Woodinville had 75.
It marked the second straight year the Knights have won the team title.
