Either Shorewood got it right or Kamiak made the wrong call.
However Thursday’s coin toss went, Shorewood emerged the winner and will be Western Conference South Division’s No. 3 team going into next week’s Class 4A Northwest District playoffs. That means Kamiak, as South No. 4, must face undefeated Mount Vernon, the No. 1-ranked team in the state coaches’ poll, in the first round Tuesday.
Meanwhile in the North Division, Marysville-Pilchuck and Cascade emerged from a three-way tie for third place as the Nos. 3 and 4 teams, respectively. Their tie with Stanwood was broken by head-to-head results. M-P was 3-1 against the other two with Cascade 2-2 and Stanwood 1-3.
So Tuesday’s first-round games will see Kamiak at Mount Vernon, Shorewood at Snohomish, Marysville-Pilchuck at Mountlake Terrace and Cascade at Jackson.
