Kamiak presses for win

MUKILTEO – On Senior night Emily Jenkins led Kamiak, along with a full-court press to a 57-47 Western Conference South victory over Jackson Friday night at Kamiak High School.

Jackson held a 27-25 lead at the half, but Kamiak forced 10 Jackson turnovers using the full-court press to start the third quarter and built a 45-37 lead to take control of the game.

“Our defense was great, especially Kelsey Larsen’s on Emilee Eisinger,” said Kamiak assistant coach Greg Strand.

Jenkins led all scorers with 20 points and had a season-high 16 rebounds for the Knights.

Eisinger and Andrea Jones each had 12 points for Jackson.

Kamiak plays Cascade and Jackson plays Oak Harbor in first round Class 4A district games on Wednesday.

Shorecrest 64, Edmonds-Woodway 46: Shorecrest’s Haley Martin scored 12 of her game-high 19 points in first half of a Wesco South regular season finale. Teammate Whitney Michiels added 13 points. The Scots’ victory clinched the No. 2 seed from the South for the Northwest District tournament. Shorecrest will face Lake Stevens in a first-round playoff game on Wednesday.

Robinson hit four three-pointers to help her claim game-high scoring honors, while Granite Falls was paced by Becky Kirchgessner’s 11 points and eight rebounds. Jessica Goss added nine points for the Lady Tigers.
