Kamiak wins fifth in a row, 42-33 over Scots

SHORELINE – The Kamiak boys basketball team, riding a four-game win streak, defeated Shorecrest 42-33 in a Western Conference South Division game Saturday night to extend its streak to five.

Ben Iddins scored seven of his 10 points in the first quarter, helping the Knights jump out to an early 19-6 lead. Teammate Lance Martinez added eight points, including two 3-pointers.

“Iddins and Martinez helped get them going,” Shorecrest coach Brian Fischer said. “We struggled in the first quarter. Couldn’t hit a basket.”

The Scots made a comeback in the second half by outscoring Kamiak 20-13, but fell a little short.

“We played good defense in the second half and gave ourselves a chance,” Fisher said.

Mark Golike led Shorecrest with eight points and seven rebounds. Teammate Derek Clemmons grabbed six rebounds, five of them offensive, to go with his four points.
