KELOWNA — Bryce Kindopp scored a pair of goals to lead the Everett Silvertips to a 3-1 victory over Kelowna in Western Hockey League action Friday night in front of 4,562 fans at Prospera Place.
Kindopp found the back of the net for the go-ahead goal in the second period off an assist from Sahvan Khaira at the 12:18 mark to put Everett (38-12-1-2, 81 points) up 2-1. Kindopp added an empty-netter with just 17 seconds remaining in the final period for his 32nd goal of the season.
Everett went 1-of-3 on power-play opportunities and held Kelowna to one power-play goal on five tries.
The Rockets’ Kyle Topping opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 7:26 mark of the first period. The Silvertips tied the game when Gianni Fairbrother delivered his own power-play score less than five minutes later.
Goaltender Max Palaga picked up the victory in goal for Everett, stopping 31 of 32 shots. Palaga earned his fifth win of the season.
Max Patterson and Robbie Holmes picked up assists for Everett, and Leif Mattson and Alex Swetlikoff assisted Kelowna’s lone goal.
Roman Basran saved 27 of 29 shots for the Rockets (23-27-4-1, 51).
The U.S. Division-leading Silvertips face the Seattle Thunderbirds at 6:05 p.m. Saturday at ShoWare Center. Everett won the previous two meetings between the rivals this season by a combined score of 12-4.
