Kingma, Bruns lead Jackson to victory

MILL CREEK — The Jackson Timberwolves duo of Kristi Kingma and Ashly Bruns is becoming a formidable force in the Wesco South.

Kingma nearly had a triple-double, scoring 20 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out nine assists and Bruns added a season-high 18 points, leading Jackson to the 66-51 Wesco South win over Shorewood Wednesday night.

Bruns has increased her scoring in Jackson’s last three games by going for 12 and 14 in her last two contests, respectively.

“The last three games she’s done a really good job of being consistent,” Jackson head coach Jeannie Thompson said.

Ashley Todd added 12 rebounds, seven of them on the offensive glass, for the Timberwolves (3-0 in league, 4-1 overall).

“We actually did that better than we did in other games. It helped us gets second opportunities,”Thompson said of the offensive boards.

Shorecrest (3-1, 4-3) came into the game unbeaten in league play and used a 23 point second quarter to take a 22-20 towards the end of the first half.

“Shorecrest battled. They were extremely tough the entire game and kept coming at us,” Thompson said of the Scots.
