Knights keep rolling, beat Shorewood 6-1

SHORELINE — The Kamiak boys tennis team keeps swatting back its competitors with relative ease.

Kamiak disposed of previously unbeaten Shorewood 6-1 to win the Wesco South divisional meet and improve to 4-0 in league and overall.

The Knights’ No.1 singles player, Abe Ahn, started Kamiak off on the right foot, defeating Shorewood’s Tristan Reni in come-from-behind fashion. Ahn dropped the first set 5-7, but dominated the second in winning 6-0, and won the third 6-2 to seal the win.

John Oh, at No 2 singles, and Kevin Son, at No 4. singles, both won in straight sets to lead the Knights.

Kamiak’s doubles teams swept the Thunderbirds in straight sets to add to the Knights dominance. The doubles teams of Matt Patterson and Kenichi Kato, the Knights’ No. 1 team, and Brian Shin and Brian Cho, the No. 3 team, each defeated their opponents by a score of 6-4, 6-1.

Shorewood’s (4-1, 4-1) lone bright spot was No. 3 singles player Spencer Shin, who won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Stanwood 7, Arlington 0: At Arlington, Drew Kidd won the No. 2 singles match in three sets to help Stanwood earn the Wesco North victory. Kidd rallied to take the first set against Arlington’s Garrett Meyer, then dropped the second set before edging Meyer in the decisive third set.
