Knights shut down Eisinger in win

MUKILTEO – The Kamiak Knights defensive strategy going into their matchup against Jackson was easy.

Contain Drew Eisinger.

And contain him they did – sort of.

Eisinger scored 19 points, but was held to just two in the decisive second quarter of the Knights 59-52 Western Conference South victory over Jackson Friday night.

Kamiak (3-1 in league, 3-2 overall) and Jackson (1-3, 2-3) battled back and forth, but it was the Knights 10-point advantage in the second quarter that proved decisive.

Kamiak’s Sean Hermes had a game-high 21 points.

“Hermes did a good job at attacking the basket, he had a good game for us,” Kamiak head coach Jeff Leary said.

Billy Johnson added 17 points – 11 coming on free throws – for Kamiak.

Kamiak remained in a tie for second with Mariner and Mountlake Terrace.
