KIRKLAND – One of these weeks, the Seattle Seahawks will get all their receivers on the field at the same time.
It just won’t be one of the next two weeks.
On the day that the Seahawks got Koren Robinson back from suspension, they lost another wide receiver for the remainder of the regular season.
Jerheme Urban is expected to miss the Seahawks’ final two games because of a foot injury that is in danger of developing into a stress fracture.
“We lost him for a couple of weeks, so getting Koren back, our pool of receivers is still small,” Holmgren said. “I’m glad Koren’s coming back.”
Urban was the Seahawks’ No. 4 receiver while Robinson served a four game-suspension. The second-year player caught six passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in six games.
Robinson’s suspension came to an end after Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets. He has been working out at the team’s facility over the past four weeks but has not attended practices.
“It’s been a long four weeks, or whatever it’s been,” quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said. “We were a little banged up last week, and it was tough to practice – with guys (like third-string quarterback Seneca Wallace and practice squad defensive back LaTerance Dunbar) going both ways on offense. It’s nice to have another guy in the mix, and obviously Koren’s a very talented guy.”
Robinson, 24, was suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He was also benched for a game after being late for a team meeting, meaning he’s missed five games in a row.
Robinson caught 31 passes for 495 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks’ first nine games. Holmgren would not say whether he would supplant Jerry Rice as the starting split end.
Robinson did not comment Monday but is expected to address the media on Wednesday.
White rues “bad call”: While referees and an instant replay official ruled that the Jets’ Curtis Martin scored a 3-yard touchdown in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, Seahawks linebacker Tracy White isn’t so sure.
White was the player who tackled Martin at the goal line on a controversial touchdown. Television replays appeared to show that White stopped Martin short of the end zone, but the Jets were given a touchdown anyway – even after Holmgren challenged for an instant replay.
“(Martin) didn’t get it,” White said Monday after watching a replay of the run. “It was clear; you could see it for yourself. I don’t know what the ref was looking at. But we’ve been getting bad calls all year, so I guess that’s how it goes.”
White wrapped up Martin just before the goal line, stopping his forward momentum and then pushing him backward.
“He was at least a yard away,” White said, exaggerating a bit. “He turned away, and I knew I had him then.
“I don’t know how the ref even saw that. It was a bad call. (The NFL) will probably call and apologize or something.”
Another tragedy: Less than a week after wide receiver Darrell Jackson lost his father to cancer, the mother of rookie defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs passed away.
Jeanette Tubbs was diagnosed with cancer in 1997, and she finally lost her battle late last week. Marcus had missed part of training camp to be by his mother’s side.
Tubbs, who has has been held out of the past two games with an ankle injury, is currently in Texas with his family.
Jeanette Tubbs told The Herald last summer that Marcus helped ease the pain of her condition by doing simple tasks like sitting by her bedside.
“Marcus always thought a cold glass of water would make me feel better,” Jeanette Tubbs said in May. “I’d get so sleepy, and he’d sit by my bed and be there for me.
“We tried to live as normal a life as possible. We tried not to live life around (the cancer). We tried not to make a big deal of it.”
One of the Tubbs family’s neighbors said in May that Marcus was always a “mama’s boy.”
“She’s his inspiration,” said Bruce Chambers, a neighbor and assistant football coach at Marcus’s alma mater, the University of Texas.
Quick slants: Holmgren said linebacker Chad Brown (foot) will be limited in practices this week but should be able to play Sunday against Arizona. … Defensive tackle Rocky Bernard has a chance of playing this week after missing the past two games with a knee injury. … About 1,400 tickets remain for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
