LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings of the NHL have hired Don Nachbaur to be an assistant coach on John Stevens’ new staff.
Kings general manager Rob Blake announced the hire Thursday.
Nachbaur spent the past seven years as the head coach of the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, making the playoffs six times. He also has been a head coach at Seattle and Tri-City in the WHL.
Nachbaur was an assistant coach under Stevens with the American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Phantoms from 2000-02.
Stevens and Nachbaur were teammates with the Philadelphia Flyers and the AHL’s Hershey Bears during the 1980s.
Nachbaur joins Dave Lowry and goaltending coach Bill Ranford on Stevens’ staff. Blake says the Kings are considering the addition of another assistant coach.
