L. Stevens’ towers dominate Stanwood

STANWOOD — Lake Stevens is just going to be too tall for most of the teams they play.

“We don’t have anybody who can match up with 6-3 (Karri Gallagher) and 6-1 (Brittany Tri),” Stanwood coach Dennis Kloke said. “Our tallest player is 5-8.”

Unbeaten Lake Stevens (3-0 overall) used its height advantage to overwhelm Stanwood 70-39 Friday in the Wesco North opener for both teams.

“They do a good job of running the floor, too,” Kloke said.

The Vikings’ Mary Ochiltree, who stands 5-11, led all scorers with 20 points.

Tarin Nicholas and Taelor Vargas each scored nine for Stanwood.
