LAKE STEVENS — The Lake Stevens softball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come-from-behind and defeat Arlington 4-3 in a non-conference matchup.
After two errors and a single, Peyton Beaver tied the game with a bases-clearing double. After another walk, Makala Akers ended the game with a walk-off, RBI single.
“It was huge for us,” Lake Stevens head coach Sarah Hirsch said of the comeback. “We had struggled at the plate all day and we talked about adjustments heading into the seventh. We were more patient and it paid off.”
Freshman Sara Johnson earned the victory in the circle, tallying five strikeouts over three innings of no-hit relief.
“She hit her spots and mixed her pitches,” Hirsch said.
The Eagles tallied just four hits, two in a two-run first inning. But Arlington took advantage of an error in the fourth to plate two more runs and take a 4-0 lead into the game.
