Lake Volleyball Club sending its U-15 Blue team to nationals

The Lake Volleyball Club’s U-15 Blue Team recently qualified for the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships.

The team is made up of players from high schools in Everett, Lake Stevens, Marysville, Monroe and Snohomish.

The national tournament takes place June 27 through July 5 in Dallas.

Lake VBC Blue finished second in the Puget Sound Region during the regular season, then earned its spot at nationals by placing second at the Puget Sound Region Bid Tournament in Puyallup. Lake VBC Blue posted a 4-2 record in the tournament, losing to Lake Tapps in three sets in the championship match (19-25, 25-15, 15-11) on May 5. The top two teams advanced to nationals.

Lake VBC Blue is 46-9 this season.

The team roster includes Megan Holman, Madi Solis, Amanda Stainer, Sophie Swanson, Taylor Webber, Jessica Brennis, Cyrene Hertzog, Jazzmyn Poirer, Jessica Clark, Alley Hadden, Courtney Fitzmaurice and Gaby Flake.

The team was coached by Keith Manske, Greg Post and Nikki Baehm.

Fusion wins in Reno

The Snohomish Volleyball Club’s Fusion U-17 team placed first in the Bronze USA Division at the Far Western Volleyball Tournament held April 26-28 in Reno, Nev.

The Fusion defeated a team from Hawaii in the championship game.

Members of the Fusion included Rachael Gordon, Larissa Block, Kahlia Kelliher, Megan Tran, Emma Tran, Tiara Huffaker, Audrey Frolich, Alexis Alverson, Hannah Peterson, Ali Carney and Kendle Valade-Nunez.

The team was coached by Don Floyd.

Rush win state title

The Everett-based Washington Rush U-14 girls soccer team won the U.S. Youth Soccer Washington State Championship on May 5 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. The Rush defeated Eastside FC 1-0 in a shootout in the championship game. The Rush did not allow a goal in their six tournament games.

With the victory, the Rush earned the right to represent the state of Washington at the West Regional Championships in June in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Rush roster includes Gabby Crenshaw, Lexi Shonko, Alexie Morris, Destiny Romano, Megan Owens, Olivia Bianco, Audrey Quane, Caroline Adams, Jessica Moskowitz, Jaelynn Walker, Kialani Mackey, Talia Daigle, Rikki Myers, Brooklyn Sands, Sydney Campbell and Madison McDonald.

The team is coached by Ben Somoza.
