Everett center Landon Ferraro was intent on using this season to earn a contract with the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings. It seems 13 games was enough to convince the Red Wings as today the Tips announced Ferraro signed a three-year entry-level contract with Detroit.
Ferraro was a second-round pick by the Red Wings in the 2009 NHL draft. Last season Ferraro had an injury-plagued campaign with Red Deer, so it was important for him to show well for the Red Wings this season. He’s off to a solid start with Everett, tallying five goals and six assists and being named the Tips’ captain.
Ferraro becomes Everett’s second player signed to an NHL deal, joining winger Kellan Tochkin, who’s signed with the Vancouver Canucks.
