Late-game heroics lift Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD – The Lynnwood Royals pulled out a victory against Wesco South opponent Shorewood in a gut check that went down to the wire Friday.

Lynnwood trailed the entire game until Nathan Rudd (22 points) heroically drained a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining.

The tide turned in Lynnwood’s favor with 36 seconds left, when Rudd hit a 3-pointer to bring his team within six points. The Royals then went on a stealing and scoring rampage.

The Rudd brothers led the charge, with Nathan scoring a two-point field goal, and then Jeremy (18 points) tipping in a shot that his brother missed.

After another Lynnwood steal, Nathan hit the game-winner.

“We were really active in the fourth quarter,” Lynnwood assistant coach Darrell McNeal said. “They were excited but nervous.

“We never gave up. You could see it in the guy’s eyes that they believed.”
