EVERETT — Blake Rambusch hit what proved to be a game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, his first homer of the season, as the Everett AquaSox earned a close 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday night at Funko Field.
James Parker broke a scoreless tie with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to stake Everett to a 2-0 lead.
Vancouver rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead, including a go-ahead two-run blast from Devonte Brown.
The AquaSox answered right back in the bottom of the inning on a two-run home run from Randy Bednar to go up 4-3, and Rambusch’s homer in the eighth tacked on a run.
Vancouver (28-25) mounted a rally in the ninth, including an RBI single from Peyton Williams to cut the AquaSox’s lead to one, but Logan Rinehart struck out Brown to end the threat and the game.
Reid VanScoter started on the mound for Everett (27-27) and turned in another quality outing. VanScoter allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings while striking out three and walking none.
