While Seahawks coach Pete Carroll maintains that nothing is settled at strongside linebacker, it is clear that, for now, Aaron Curry is behind rookie K.J. Wright on the depth chart. But despite last week’s demotion, Curry said any frustration over that move is past him, and that he is now at peace with the situation.
“I’m at peace,” Curry. “I have complete peace of mind right now. I’m feeling blessed. I’m taking this trial that I have and just capitalizing on it. Frustration was last week. I was a little caught off guard, so of course that was naturally my response to be frustrated, but I’m so at peace right now. I don’t know how to explain it to you.”
Asked where that peace of mind came from, Curry cited his Christian faith, saying, “This trial is here for a reason, and i’m going to gain something so much bigger from it than anything we can explain.”
Asked if, at this point a fresh start would be better for him, Curry said: “Who knows. I don’t know if I can sit here and say if that is the truth or if it’s not, because I’ve never been in that situation.”
Curry said he has not been told anything to indicate he won’t be around for the rest of this season. Asked if he wants to be here beyond this year, he answered: “I want to be where I have the best shot to get better at my future, and be able to contribute to a team’s success.”
