As first reported by the always on top of things Mac’s Football blog, Linebacker David Hawthorne has signed a one-year contract extension with the Seahawks, paying him a base salary of $900,000 in 2011. Hawthorne’s base salary for this season was also increased from the $470,000 to $696,667 according to the NFL Player’s Association database.
Hawthorne, who signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2008, started 11 games last season at middle linebacker for an injured Lofa Tatupu. He signed a one-year contract as an exclusive right free agent prior to the season and moved to weakside linebacker, replacing Leroy Hill. Hawthorne, the Seahawks’ leading tackler last season, has a team-high 65 tackles this year, including a season-high 13 in Sunday’s loss to Kansas City.
