Lightweights lead Snohomish to win over M-P

SNOHOMISH – The Snohomish Panthers rode the backs of their lightweights Thursday.

Snohomish got key victories in weight classes 103, 112, 119 and 125 pounds to win a Western Conference North Division meet 45-26 over Marysville-Pilchuck at Snohomish High School.

Snohomish (3-0 division, 5-0 overall) blew open a tight meet, winning four bouts in a row by pin starting at 103 pounds and ending at 125 to change a 15-14 lead into a 39-14 advantage with just four matches remaining.

Jordan Walsh (103), Paul Their (112), Mike McCauliffe (119) and Brad Perry (125) helped Snohomish stay perfect on the season with their victories.

“We got on a little role and built a good lead,” Snohomish coach Kevin Judkins said.

M-P fell to 1-2 in division and 7-3 overall.

Cascade 44, Oak Harbor 32: At Oak Harbor, Cascade had three quick pins at 112 pounds (53 seconds), 119 (:40), and 125 (1:17) to lead the Bruins to a Wesco North victory. The match of the night was at 130 pounds where Andrew Rios scored a reversal with two seconds remaining to earn a 9-8 decision.
