Link: Meadowdale’s Ashley Aven battles leukemia

It seems like everyone has been touched by cancer, either personally or by seeing it affect loved ones.

Sometimes medical treatment works well and the person enjoys a miraculous recovery. But in other cases, unfortunately, the cancer persists and slowly destroys yet another life.

Former Meadowdale High School softball player Ashley Aven is not one of the lucky ones. Aven has acute myeloid leukemia. It’s terminal. She already exceeded doctors’ prediction for how long she would live. Three months ago they told her she had just two months before the cancer would end her life.

Here is a link to Herald Writer Rich Myhre’s story about Ashley Aven, a remarkably strong-willed, inspirational young woman.

You can learn more about Ashley — and make a donation to her family — on her CaringBridge.org personal Web site.
