What a great day for baseball. I know that’s a cliche, but it’s DEFINITELY true today.
I’m here at Everett Memorial Stadium for the final two games of the Class 4A District 1 baseball tournament.
In the first game, which appears set to start at 11:30 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. like the tournament schedule said, the Wesco South No. 3-seeded Jackson Timberwolves (17-6) will play the South No. 4 Shorewood Thunderbirds (15-9). The winner advances to the 4A state tournament; the loser’s season will be over.
Later this afternoon, South champion Kamiak (18-4) will play South No. 2 seed Mountlake Terrace (16-6) for the district championship. Both teams are already guaranteed a spot in the state tournament but they are playing for seeding and the chance to play right here at Everett Memorial next weekend.
I’m going to open a CoverItLive window. You can follow along throughout the day and keep up on the action in both games. I will post updates, reader polls and links. You can send me messages and ask questions.
Here we go.
