The Everett Silvertips put their two-game winning streak on the line tonight as they play the Spokane Chiefs at Spokane Arena. The Tips (6-1-1-0, 13 points) are coming off two impressive victories over the previously unbeaten Prince George Cougars Tuesday and Wednesday. The Tips are ranked ninth in the latest CHL poll while the Cougars slipped to second.
Tonight marks a homecoming for Silvertip winger Dominic Zwerger, who played three seasons with the Chiefs before being dealt to Everett at the end of September.

– In case you missed it, the Tips dealt goaltender Lasse Petersen to Red Deer for draft picks. Petersen played in only one regular-season game with Everett this season and had recently been reassigned to Swan Valley of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
– I’m a touch late to the party on this, but Shane Harper became the 16th Silvertip to play in the NHL when he made his debut Thursday with the Florida Panthers.

– There were a couple of interesting stories I found today. One looks at how Team Canada will do at World Juniors this year given how many eligible players are playing in the NHL this year. Another looks at a Congressional inquiry into the link between CTE and concussions, and the approach of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to the issue.
