You might say Taylor Masset returned with a vengeance.
One year after he struggled at the American Motorcycle Association’s dirt track championships, Masset won titles in two classes at the 2008 AMA Black Cat Gold Dirt Track Grand Championships held March 1-5 in Daytona, Fla.
Masset, of Everett, won the 85cc DTX and 85cc Modified championships, recording seven first-place finishes, one second-place and two third-places over the five-day competition.
Last year, Taylor and his father, Ron Masset, returned from the first day of competition to find their van had been broken into, and all of Taylor Masset’s bikes, gear and equipment had been stolen.
Taylor Masset borrowed bikes from other riders to complete the competition, but struggled adjusting to the unfamiliar equipment and finished out of the top 10.
