SEATTLE — Oregon State left fielder and Marysville Pilchuck alumnus Kyle Nobach had two hits as the Beavers beat Washington 4-2 in 10 innings on Thursday night in the first game of a three-game Pac-12 series at Husky Ballpark.
Nobach also played for Everett Community College before transferring to Corvallis.
Washington committed two errors that were pivotal in the result, including one by third baseman and former Kamiak standout Alex Schmidt in the top of the 10th inning.
Schmidt atoned for his miscue by leading off the bottom of the 10th with a double, but Oregon State closer Mitch Hickey struck out the next three batters to end the game.
Brandon Choate, who pitched for Mountlake Terrace, appeared in relief for the Huskies and worked 0.2 innings, walking two and allowing an unearned run in the seventh.
The two teams will continue the series on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
