Jake Locker and Tyrone Willingham both met with the media a couple of minutes ago, and the word is that Locker suffered a hamstring strain during yesterday afternoon’s practice.
“Yes he did sustain an injury, it was a hamstring strain,” Willingham said. “The degree we don’t know. We’ll be monitoring as we go. Our thought process is to just be cautious and move forward day to day.”
Locker said the injury happened when he was running after keeping the ball on a read zone play.
“I went to turn up and just couldn’t do what I normally do,” he said. “It’s just a little bit sore, nothing too bad.”
Locker, who said he has no history on hamstring problems, had an MRI today, but results were not yet available.
It is not known yet how long Locker will be out with the injury, but Willingham said the team will err on the side of caution.
Asked if Locker would play again Oregon, Willingham said: “I don’t see why he wouldn’t, but again, it’s too early.”
