As always, full numbers are below, but first a few things that stood out
—Fullback Will Tukuafu was on the field for 15 percent of Seattle’s offensive snaps four days after singing with the Seahawks. Back in his usual role of backup running back, and not emergency fullback, Robert Turbin was in on 26 percent of Seattle’s offensive plays.
—No. 3 running back Christine Michael only played seven snaps, but his number was called on four of them, with him gaining 16 yards on those four carries.
—Undrafted rookie Garry Gilliam saw his most substantial playing time, playing 38 percent of the snaps because of an injury to James Carpenter. It was the first time Gilliam, a tight end turned tackle in college, had taken any meaningful snaps at guard.
—Rookie Paul Richardson has firmly established himself as Seattle’s third receiver, playing 72 percent of the snaps this week. Kevin Norwood was next at just 25 percent.
—The Seahawks hoped to rest Stephen Schilling, who is battling a knee injury, but with so much inexperience on the line, he replaced Patrick Lewis at center and played 18 second-half snaps.
—DeShawn Shead played all 60 snaps strong safety, which is pretty remarkable considering he had appeared in just two games this season on defense, playing a total of 19 snaps.
—As expected, Brock Coyle didn’t play every down despite being the starting middle linebacker, as Kevin Pierre-Louis replaced him in nickel situations. Coyle ended up playing 53 percent of the snaps, while Pierre-Louis played 24 percent. Mike Morgan was also in the linebacker mix, playing 23 percent of the snaps.
—Defensive ends Michael Bennett (87 percent) and Cliff Avril (80 percent) continued their trend of seeing significantly more playing time in 2014.
—For the second week in a row, Bruce Irvin was close to being an every-down player, appearing in 90 percent of Seattle’s defensive snaps.
— Linebackers Kevin Pierre-Louis and Mike Morgan had by far the heaviest work load on special teams, each playing 29 snaps (81 percent). Next up was Brock Coyle (58 percent) and Cooper Helfet (56 percent). Linebacker L.J. Fort, who was just signed off the practice squad, was also busy on special teams, playing 47 percent of the snaps.
