Lynden holds off Snohomish

SNOHOMISH – Lynden sank eight of nine free thows down the stretch to seal a 61-58 non-conference boys basketball victory over Snohomish Thursday.

Grant Assink paced the Lions’ offense with a game-high 21 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter. He also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

Behind 33-29 at the half, Snohomish clawed its way on top for the first time, taking a 46-45 lead after three quarters.

Lynden regained control, however, and consistent free throw shooting kept the Panthers in check.

Guard Ryan Sommer led Snohomish with 20 points and five rebounds.

James Powell and Troy Traubenheim added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Lynden.
