MARYSVILLE — Marysville-Pilchuck freshman Morgan Martinis converted a free throw with seven seconds remaining and the Tomahawks girls basketball team held on to defeat Snohomish 46-45 in Wesco North action on Saturday.
The Panthers outscored M-P in every quarter but the first, and that 15-8 advantage after eight minutes was the key, M-P coach Julie Martin said.
“We came out and played as a team,” Martin added. “It was nice to finally come out on top in one of these close games.”
Britt Harris had 13 points to lead M-P, who improved to 8-5 in Wesco play, and 13-5 overall.
Katie Benson had 13 points to lead Snohomish, and Marjorie Heard and Allison Burns each added nine for the Panthers (10-2, 12-4).
