M-P nets place in playoffs

MOUNT VERNON – Marysville-Pilchuck secured a 4A District 1 playoff berth with its 61-40 win over Mount Vernon in the Wesco North game Friday night.

The Bulldogs kept the game close in the first quarter, but the Tomahawks went on a 20-11 run in the second quarter to break the game open.

“M-P has strong players and they made their shots,” Mount Vernon coach Bryan Jones said.

Senior Amanda Dunbar led the Tommies with 19 points. Teammates Kristeen Juarez and Anna West added eight points apiece.

“Dunbar is a strong player, she did what she usually does.” Jones said.
