Mai scores all 21 Stanwood points in win over M-P

MARYSVILLE – Mai oh Mai!

Junior Ian Mai scored all of Stanwood’s 21 points, leading the Spartans to a 21-7 Wesco North victory over Marysville-Pilchuck Friday night.

Mai ran in a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter, then added a 58-yard TD reception and a 9-yard TD run in the second quarter, giving Stanwood all the offense it would need.

Mai also kicked all three extra-points for the Spartans.

Marquise Moses led the Tomahawks with 16 carries for 104 yards.

Moses scored the lone touchdown for Marysville-Pilchuck in the second quarter on a 5-yard pass from quarterback Brandon Howell.

With the win Stanwood (3-2 in league, 4-2 overall) moved into a tie with Cascade for third in the division.

Marysville-Pilchuck dropped to 1-5 in league and overall.

Oak Harbor 54, Mount Vernon 7: At Oak Harbor, the Wildcats remained unbeaten as they routed the Bulldogs in Wesco North play. Sean O’Brien carried the ball 11 times for a pair of touchdowns and quarterback Marshall Lobbestael was 8-for-13 passing for 131 yards and two TDs to lead the Oak Harbor attack. Chris Valencia also ran for a pair of Wildcat scores and teammate Brendan Kays caught three passes for 46 yards and one touchdown. Jake Whitman and Josh Etringer combined for 163 passing yards for Mount Vernon.
