Mariner clinches Wesco South with win

EVERETT – The Mariner High School wrestling team clinched the Western Conference South Division title with a 63-18 victory over Shorecrest on Thursday night in its home gym.

Mariner improved to 8-0 in the division and 9-0 overall with a strong overall performance, including five pins, a technical fall and a major decision. Shorecrest fell to 0-8, 3-11.

Daniel Link (130 pounds), Cory Hendrickson (145), Kyle Dewey (152), Richard Johnson (171) and Mohammad Mustafa (215) earned the pins for Mariner.

Cole Arbanasin at 119 pounds, Kellan Sullivan at 189 pounds and Evan Burns at 275 pounds secured Shorecrest’s three pins in the meet.

Everett 51, Mountlake Terrace 18: At Everett, the match of the night was at 215 pounds between Everett’s Parker Burns and Mountlake Terrace’s Josh Carey with Burns getting a decision 3-2 in double overtime. The Seagulls’ Tyler Pound had a 13-11 come-from-behind victory over Zach King to help Everett defeat Mountlake Terrace in the Wesco South match.
