SEATTLE — Right-hander Randy Messenger agreed Friday to a minor-league contract with the Seattle Mariners, two days after he was waived off the major-league roster to clear a roster spot.
The 27-year-old had a 3.55 ERA and one save in 13 games last season with Seattle. He also spent six weeks with Triple-A Tacoma.
Seattle removed him from the big-league roster after acquiring infielder Ronny Cedeno and left-hander Garrett Olson from the Cubs in a deal that sent reliever Aaron Heilman to Chicago.
