Mariners spring training update

Today in camp

n Mariners vs. White Sox, 1:05 p.m. in Peoria on KOMO radio (1000 AM).

Left-hander Jarrod Washburn will start for the Mariners. The White Sox starter had not been determined.

Sunday in camp

n Seattle starter Cha Seung Baek, a candidate for a spot in the bullpen, allowed four runs and seven hits in three innings in his roughest outing of the spring and the M’s lost to the Los Angeles Angels 8-2.

Relief pitcher R.A. Dickey allowed six hits and three earned runs in three innings.

“We’re getting the ball out over the plate and we gave up 16 hits,” manager John McLaren said. “That’s kind of where we are right now.”

On the trainer’s table

n First baseman Richie Sexson has bursitis in his right shoulder and had a cortisone injection Sunday.

n Pitcher Brandon Morrow (stiff right shoulder) pitched one inning in a minor league game Sunday and, if he feels good today, will pitch again Tuesday.

n Pitcher Anderson Garcia (inflamed right shoulder) is on a conditioning and throwing program.

Weather

n It’ll be the warmest day of spring training, with the high temperature expected to reach 89 this afternoon.

n “I feel fine now and I’m ready to be back in the mix.”

Reliever Brandon Morrow, who pitched an inning in a minor league game Sunday, his first game since March 10 because of a sore right shoulder.

They did it

n In a sign that spring training is nearing the end, Mariners players and staff packed boxes and belongings that will leave today on a truck that will carry them back to Seattle.
