A report out of San Diego late Tuesday night had Mariners pitcher Cha Seung Baek going to the Padres for a right-handed reliever named Jared Wells.
Baek was designated for assignment last week to make room for reliever R.A. Dickey.
The 26-year-old Wells appeared in two games for the Padres this season, giving up four hits and two runs in three innings of work.
Baek was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 appearances for the Mariners this season. He started one game.
