EVERETT — Top Seattle Mariners prospect Noelvi Marte drove on seven runs, but it wasn’t enough as the Everett AquaSox fell to the Eugene Emeralds in a 16-9 slugfest on Friday night at Funko Field.
Patrick Bailey hit a grand slam in a six-run fifth inning as the Emeralds rallied from a 6-4 deficit to take a 10-6 lead they would never relinquish.
Marte continued his torrid hitting for the AquaSox, going 4-for-5 with a home run, three doubles and a walk. Rehabbing Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger started at designated hitter and went 1-for-2 with an RBI single before being lifted for a pinch-hitter.
Logan Rinehart started on the mound for Everett (43-44) and allowed four runs on four hits in four innings. Rinehart struck out seven and walked one.
Bailey finished with five RBI and Casey Schmitt added a solo home run for Eugene (50-35).
