Marysville-Pilchuck rallies to topple Lake Stevens

MARYSVILLE — Sometimes all it takes to win the game is a little trial and error.

After Lake Stevens scored the first goal, Marysville-Pilchuck re-worked its game plan and won the Wesco North game 3-1 on Thursday night in Marysville.

“(Lake Stevens) came out and put us under high pressure and our guys were a little tentative at first,” Marysville-Pilchuck coach Geoff Kittle said. “(But) our guys did a good job of responding.”

Seth Jones and Jordan Salcedo scored goals in the 22nd and 30th minutes, respectively, for the Tomahawks. Nick Burdett knocked the final shot into the goal on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.

At Marysville-Pilchuck H.S.

Cascade 1, Stanwood 0: At Everett, Connor Skibeness scored the lone goal in the 68th minute, leading Cascade to the Wesco North win. The goal was Skibeness’ second straight game-winner.

Goals—Cascade: Skibeness. Assists—Cascade: Gosslee. Goalkeepers—Stanwood: Alumbaugh. Cascade: Janner. Records—Stanwood 0-4-0 league, 0-4-0 overall. Cascade 4-0-0, 4-0-0.

Arlington 4, Everett 1: At Arlington, Arlington’s Jake Smith stole the opening kickoff and dribbled past three defenders to score in the 12th second of the game and Arlington never looked back on its way to the Wesco North victory.

Snohomish 4, Oak Harbor 0: At Oak Harbor, Thomas Sheets scored all four of Snohomish’s goals in the Wesco North victory.
