Meadowdale takes first place from Marinrer

EVERETT – The Meadowdale boys soccer team is on a roll and so is goalkeeper Eric Marty.

Marty, playing with the sun in his eyes for the first half, recorded his second consecutive shutout and Meadowdale defeated Mariner 4-0 in a Western Conference South showdown.

With the win Meadowdale leapfrogged Mariner into sole possession of first place.

The shutout was also Meadowdale’s eighth in 14 games.

The Mavericks scored three goals within the first 14 minutes of the game. The first goal coming when Lamar Anderson hit Yaw Agyei.

Anderson got his second assist of the game when he hit Solly Gold, giving the Mavs an early 2-0 lead.

At the 14th minute mark Aaron Roberts scored from a 40-yard free kick from Jon Turk.

Meadowdale’s final goal came in the second half when Gold struck again. It was his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

At Mariner

Goals-Meadowdale: Agyei, Gold 2, Roberts. Goalkeepers-Meadowdale: Marty. Mariner: Larsen. Records-Meadowdale 6-1-0 in league, 12-1-1 overall. Mariner 5-1-1, 9-4-1.

Shorewood 2, Mountlake Terrace 0: Blake Bernhard scored the Wesco South game’s only goals.

At Lynnwood

Goals-Shorewood: Bernhard 2. Goalkeepers-Shorewood: not reported. Mountlake Terrace: Tappel. Records-Shorewood 5-1-1 in league, 9-3-2 overall. Mountlake Terrace 3-3-1, 7-4-3.

Edmonds-Woodway 0, Shorecrest 0: Hawk Mummey (E-W) and Rylan Hawkins (Shorecrest) each recorded shutouts for their respective teams in the Wesco South game.

At Shoreline

Goalkeepers-E-W: Mummey. Shorecrest: Hawkins. Records-Edmonds-Woodway 1-5-1 in league and 4-8-2 overall. Shorecrest 4-2-1, 9-3-2.

Jackson 6, Lynnwood 0: Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Timberwolves exploded for five goals in the second half of the Wesco South game. David Bergley recorded two goals and an assist.

At Everett

Goals-Jackson: Dorsey, Oxford, Bergley 2, Nijem, Bruns. Goalkeepers-Lynnwood: Ray. Jackson: Nijem, McWhorter. Records-Lynnwood 0-6-1 in division, 2-10-2 overall. Jackson 3-3-1, 6-6-2.

Lake Stevens 2, Snohomish 2: With the Wesco North game tied 1-1, Alex Sirotak of Snohomish scored in the 70th minute. However, the lead was short-lived due to Coyt Ferrucci’s goal in the 76th minute for Lake Stevens which re-tied the score.

At Lake Stevens

Goals-Lake Stevens: Leonard, Ferrucci. Snohomish: Wilson, Sirotak. Goalkeepers-Lake Stevens: Hawkis and Hardwick. Snohomish: Riley. Records-Snohohmish 12-1-1 in league and overall. Lake Stevens 8-4-2, 8-4-2.

Mount Vernon 5, Oak Harbor 0: Ben Coffey had two assists for Mount Vernon in the Wesco North game. Mount Vernon had five separate players score.

At Mount Vernon

Goals-Mount Vernon: Sanchez, Zimmerman, Connor, Nissley, Hausauer. Goalkeepers-Oak Harbor: not reported. Mount Vernon: Gilbert. Records-Oak Harbor 2-12-1 in league, 2-12-1 overall. Mount Vernon 8-3-3, 8-3-3.

Cascade 2, Stanwood 1: Zach Cobbs and Ayo Abebefe each scored within the first five minutes of the Wesco North game. Mattia Tarizzo scored Stanwood’s goal.

At Stanwood

Goals-Cascade: Cobbs, Abebefe. Stanwood: Tarizzo. Goalkeepers-Cascade: Thomas. Stanwood: Knutson. Records-Cascade 11-2-1 in division and overall. Stanwood 3-8-2, 3-8-2.

Lakewood 4, Lynden Christian 1: Nic Esser scored twice and Jorge Dominguez had a goal and two assists for Lakewood in its North Cascades win.

At Lynden

Goals-Lakewood: Dominguez, Serna, Esser 2. Lynden Christian: not reported. Goalkeepers-Lakewood: Clifton. Lynden Christian: Huartson. Records-Lakewood 11-3 league and overall. Lynden Christian 5-9.
