KAMLOOPS, B.C. — The Everett Merchants split their final two pool play games at the Kamloops Invitational Baseball Tournament Saturday defeating Red Deer 7-4 before falling to the Seattle Studs 11-1.
Andy Lyon batted 3-for-4, David Amberson batted 2-for-3 with two RBI and Dan Schmidt was 2-for-2 as the Merchants (25-6 overall) overcame a 2-1 deficit to beat Red Deer.
In the day’s second contest, Seattle posted six runs in the first inning to cruise into today’s championship game. Craig Monson had an RBI-single in the first for Everett.
The Merchants play a semifinal game at 11:30 a.m. today against an opponent to-be-determined. The winner advances to face Seattle in the 2:30 p.m. final.
