Class AAA Tacoma Rainiers: The Rainiers finished the first month with an 11-8 record and a lot of promise from their pitching staff.

Right-hander Clint Nageotte was 3-1 with a 3.60 earned run average going into his fifth start of the season Saturday. Left-hander Bobby Madritsch pitched one of his best games Friday at Salt Lake City, allowing one unearned run in 6 1/3innings of a game the Rainiers lost in 12 innings. Madritsch is 1-0 with a 3.25 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings. Left-handed reliever George Sherrrill has a 1.88 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings after pitching three shutout innings Thursday at Salt Lake City.

Outfielder Epilido Guzman led the Rainiers with a .352 batting average and first baseman A.J. Zapp was batting .333 with three home runs and 15 RBI. Designated hitter Bucky Jacobsen had four homers and a team-high 17 RBI.

Class AA San Antonio Missions: The Missions continued to win with offense, rolling up a 12-8 record in April.

Outfielder Greg Jacobs, who began his minor league career as a pitcher in 1998, was batting .462 with three home runs, 11 RBI and a .769 slugging percentage entering the weekend. First baseman John Lindsey was hitting .352 with five homers and 13 RBI, outfielder Dustin Delucchi was at .346 and third baseman Greg Dobbs is hitting .313.

Right-handed pitcher Gustavo Martinez was 1-0 with a 2.29 ERA, with 20 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings, left-hander Troy Cate 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four starts and right-handed closer Jared Horeman had six saves and a 3.60 ERA.

Class A Inland Empire 66ers: The Mariners’ high-A team in San Bernardino went 15-7 in April with a solid mix of hitting and pitching. T.J. Bohn was batting .338 and Juan Gonzalez .326 with a team-high six stolen bases. Michael Garciaparra’s early struggles continued and he’s hitting just .170.

Right-hander T.A. Fulmer went 2-0 with a 0.75 earned run average in four starts, with 26 strikeouts in 24 innings; right-hander Felix Hernandez was 2-1, 3.48 with 27 strikeouts in 20 2/3innings; and left-hander Bobby Livingston was 3-0, 1.27 in five starts.

Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers: The Rattlers nosed back toward the .500 mark, finishing the month 9-12 and getting some good pitching along the way.

Left-hander Ryan Feierabend is 3-1 with a 3.74 ERA and right-hander Brandon Moorhead 2-1, 2.70 with 25 strikeouts in 23 1/3innings.

Shortstop Adam Jones led a struggling offense with a team-high .247 average and 11 RBI.
