Misiewicz, Quevedo lead AquaSox past Indians 8-1

EVERETT — Anthony Misiewicz threw four no-hit innings, leading the Everett AquaSox to an 8-1 victory over the Spokane Indians on Thursday night at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Misiewicz, the Seattle Mariners’ 18th-round pick in this year’s amateur draft, started and allowed just one baserunner on a walk, striking out seven in a dominating outing. Andrew Moore and Joey Strain finished off what ended up being a four-hitter.

With the victory Everett (21-14) knocked Spokane (17-18) out of contention for the Northwest League North Division first-half title. The Sox remained one game ahead of Tri-City, which beat Vancouver 6-4 Thursday. Three games remain in the first half.

Yojhan Quevedo went 3-for-4 with four RBI, including his first homer in two seasons as a professional in the U.S., to lead an Everett attack that pounded out 11 hits. Braden Bishop finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Drew Jackson went 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases.

Connor McKay tripled and scored to lead Spokane.

Jackson update

Everett outfielder Alex Jackson continues to be on the shelf because of a bruised left hand.

Jackson, the Seattle Mariners’ first-round pick in last year’s amateur draft, hasn’t played since aggravating his hand while taking a swing on July 15. Everett manager Rob Mummau continued to list Jackson as day-to-day. However, Jackson did not take batting practice Thursday, and the right-hander was shagging balls with a left-hander’s glove so as not to catch any balls with his injured hand, suggesting Jackson is still a ways away from returning to the lineup.

New addition

The Sox have a new starting pitcher as Enyel De Los Santos has joined the team. The 19-year-old right-hander from the Dominican Republic was promoted from Peoria of the rookie Arizona League, where in five starts he was 3-0 with a 2.55 ERA, walking five and striking out 29 in 24 2/3 innings. He’s scheduled to start Friday night, bumping Luiz Gohara back a day, with Jose Santiago moving from the rotation to the bullpen.
