You’ve got to love NFL rules. Because the Seahawks and Eagles play Thursday this week, the league requires both teams to put out practice participation reports on Monday, something teams don’t normally do until Wednesday on a normal week. The problem with this? Neither team actually practiced Monday, because practicing the day after an NFL game would be insane given the punishment players take. But alas, rules are rules, so both teams put out an injury report that includes the following disclaimer: “Both teams conducted a walk-thru practice Monday. Monday’s report is an estimation had there been a full practice.”
So here it is, folks, your estimated injury report:
SEAHAWKS
Did not participate
WR Sidney Rice (concussion)
Limited participation
QB Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral)
DT Alan Branch (ankle)
LB David Hawthorne (knee)
CB Byron Maxwell (illness)
CB Richard Sherman (calf)
EAGLES
Did not participate
CB Nnamdi Asomugha (knee)
T King Dunlap (concussion)
LB Moise Fokou (ankle)
WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring/shoulder)
QB Michael Vick (ribs)
Limited
DT Cullen Jenkins (thumb)
RB LeSean McCoy (toe)
CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle)
While this injury report is an estimation, one important thing to note is the use of the word concussion to describe Rice’s injury. Carroll was vague calling the it a head injury Sunday, but the fact that it is in fact a concussion, Rice’s second in three weeks, does not bode well for his chances of playing with such a short turnaround. Rice was able to make it back following his last concussion, but that was with a full week to recover. The fact that this is a second concussion in such a short time frame could also slow his recovery.
