Hope everyone is excited for Saturday’s Apple Cup.
Believe it or not, the 0-10 Huskies are a 7.5-point favorite in Vegas today.
The players that came to today’s press conference indicated that this is still a big game despite the fact that both teams are so bad. In addition to wanting the Apple Cup victory, the Huskies are also motivated to avoid a winless season.
“It’s the Apple Cup, plus we haven’t won yet, so that’s a double,” said cornerback Mesphin Forrester. “It’s the Apple Cup and we’re trying to get our first win, so it means a lot more.”
As for news of the day, there’s not a lot to report. As is normally the case, Tyrone Willingham didn’t have a lot of answers about injuries because the team hasn’t practiced yet this week.
He did say that he is expecting freshman defensive tackle Senio Kelemete back this week. Terrance Dailey, who was slowed by a hip pointer last week and only played one play last week (and he fumbled) is also expected back.
There’s still no word on Matt Mosley’s knee injury, though Willingham said he isn’t expecting him back.
Also, Willingham reported that Jake Locker’s surgery last friday to remove the plate from his hand went well, and said Locker is definitely unavailable this week and likely for the Dec. 6 Cal game.
And for the second time in three weeks, the Huskies played bad enough that no players of the game were awarded.
