No big news here like last Monday. Tyrone Willingham said its business as usual for him and his staff (aside from recruiting). Asked if thinks the team is still listening to him and responding to the coaches, Willingham said, “I think so. But you always have some guys that don’t.” Though he noted that that is a case on a roster of 100 or more players even in good times.
Asked if this team might respond better to another coach, Willingham said that is a “hypothetical I won’t consider.”
Willingham also provided a few injury updates. Cody Bruns has a minor concussion but should be able to practice Tuesday. Cameron Elisara, who left the game with a neck stinger, is also expected back when practice resumes Tuesday. Mesphin Forrester, who injured his knee in practice last Wednesday and did not make the trip to LA, should be back this week or next.
Given the 56-0 result Saturday, it’s not a big surprise that there were no players of the week named for the loss the USC. The service team players of the week were Drew Schaefer, Tyrone Duncan and Jovon O’Connor.
