MARYSVILLE – Fueled by Kylin Munoz’s 24 kills and 10 digs and Kaitlyn Drew’s 39 assists, the Monroe High School volleyball team defeated Marysville-Pilchuck 3-1 Thursday in a non-division match at Jim Linden Fieldhouse.
Despite starting slowly in every game, Monroe (2-0) warmed up in time to beat M-P (0-2). Monroe, ranked No. 3 in the Class 4A preseason state coaches’ poll, and M-P are expected to contend for the Wesco North title this season.
M-P’s top performers were Emily Boerger (13 kills) and Jade Thompson (17 digs).
When the teams have a rematch on Oct. 30 at Monroe High, it will count in the North standings.
